You are just little steps away to fulfill your dreams to become a Filipino accountant and the pressure starts killing your nerves. You don’t know exactly what to do and where to start. Even your mom and dad have no idea how to help you. I knew the feeling. So for me to help you become a Filipino accountant, I want to share five effective preparation tips for your big day!
1. Go get a review course
As you heard from many, taking the CPA exam without any study materials is like putting on a blindfold being turned around multiple times and then handed a basketball to attempt to shoot it on the ring. Chances are you’re going to miss it. Therefore go for a research or ask your professors on which CPA review materials you are to take. You can also enroll yourself in a review center. They will be your helping hand. And they are created for the CPA exam.
2. Take a fresh bit of information everyday
Don’t learn all things in just one sitting. The effective way of reviewing is to take each piece of information little by little each day. It is like eating food. You don’t want to swallow the whole turkey during the thanksgiving but you want it to eat little by little to enjoy and savor the aroma. The same thing for reviewing! Take things one at a time and make sure you understand it before moving forward.
3. Kill the media
There are individuals who want to study with a background music swaying around them. But this is not effective for everyone. For most, they found it irritating. So it is suggested to ditch out the background music, as well as to log off all your social media accounts and put your mobile phones in sleep or airplane mode. With this, your mind is focused on just one thing – your review. According to studies, people will learn things faster and easier if they will use all their senses in studying a particular matter. Use your eyes, mouth and ears in reading the review materials. Use your fingers to touch and guide your eyes as you read statements and passages. With these, your eyes can see the information, your mouth speaks the principle, and ears hear the formula and your fingers touch the basics. In short kill all things that will distract you!
4. Take a break
Set one day each week as your rest day. On this day you are not to open any review materials, nor speak or think anything regarding accountancy. Just go to the mall, eat you favorites, watch movies, play basketball and do things that are not review related. This “recharge day” will be something you look forward to all week long, especially when things go wrong or stressful.
5. Remind yourself why
When things go out of your grasp, remind yourself about the WHY! Why do you want to pass the CPA exam? I suggest writing down your reasons why you want to pass the exam. Post it on your mirror, comfort room, door, closet, and ceiling or in any place that you always see. Do this to remember your reasons why you want to pass the exam. With these you can feel the extra motivation to go through.
I hope these five tips may help you! If you have other tips, please share it to us by simply dropping your comments below! Thanks.
